On September 24, Lindenwood Women’s Lacrosse celebrated their 2021 National Championship win with a ring ceremony at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, MO.

During the ceremony, the team debuted their long-awaited rings.

The design process took over a month and a half of planning. The coaches and the seniors collaborated on the design according to Assistant Coach Brian Smith

“We wanted to see what was important to them and make sure that was considered during the process,” said Smith.

This was a new experience for the Lindenwood program. These rings were going to represent the first ever NCAA women’s lacrosse team west of the Mississippi River to have a National Championship win.

In addition to that, the Lions were one of the first teams to win the Championship outside of the eastern time zone as well as in the midst of a global pandemic.

With all that in mind, the overall goal was to highlight the historical significance of the team’s accomplishment.

All the desired details of the ring were able to come together in the final design crafted by Baron Rings, a company that has crafted rings for many collegiate and professional sports teams.

“We wanted to represent the university as much as possible and leave no doubt as to what the ring represents,” said Smith.

So what do the rings and championship represent?

In addition to what was previously mentioned, nearly a 20-year journey. Starting in 2003, women’s lacrosse began as a club team at the university.

Now, the college is home to the D2 National Champions.

“Each ring cost each player a season of discipline, hard work, blood, sweat and tears all while navigating through a global pandemic,” said Smith.

With the new reality of dreams coming true, the new goal for the Lindenwood program is to win another championship in 2022.

This time, on their home turf in Hunter Stadium where the upcoming NCAA D2 National Championship will be hosted.
