The University of Maryland announced Monday graduate student Aurora Cordingley will be joining their women’s lacrosse team for the 2022 season.
Cordingley is transferring from John Hopkins University. Her decision to transfer to Maryland was made to help focus on future endeavors.
“The degree I am pursuing this year is unique and wasn’t offered at many of the schools I looked at. It [Maryland] was exactly the type of program I was looking for,” said Cordingley.
Last season, Cordingley scored a total of 39 goals, with 18 assists. In a game against Rutgers, she set a career high with 10 shots, six goals and seven points.

With the future in mind, Cordingley wants to ensure she can have a long career in finance or real estate, while still being able to play lacrosse for as long as possible. Her goals for the upcoming season represent this.
“Academically, improve upon hard skills I wasn’t too familiar with in my undergrad program [international studies]. Athletically, the goal is get Maryland back to a championship weekend, ” said Cordingley when talking about her goals.
The three-year starter at Johns Hopkins is ready for the next chapter of her lacrosse career.
“Super excited to get started and can’t wait to get to campus.”
