The Clemson Tigers have chosen a proven head coach in Allison Kwolek to build their women’s lacrosse program.

Kwolek arrives in Clemson after putting together a 64-14 record in her nine seasons with the University of Richmond.

The possibility of coaching in the ACC was a factor in Kwolek’s decision to take the job.

“The ACC is the pinnacle of college lacrosse, and it is a tremendous opportunity to begin a program at a school so committed to the success of the student-athlete,” said Kwolek.

Kwolek led her Richmond teams to great recognition as well as herself. She was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2018. That was just the second time a Richmond head coach won the award.

The new Clemson coach proved herself as a good recruiter in her tenure with the Spiders. In 2019, Inside Lacrosse rated her recruiting class as tenth best in the nation. Now in the ACC, it will be easier for her to recruit top talent.

Kwolek had signed a five-year contract extension with Richmond in August 2018.
